Albemarle County identified two primary goals for a new high school: provide a facility for an advanced, interdisciplinary curriculum, and create an environmentally-friendly, or sustainable, building. The 67- acre site, in the shadow of Thomas Jefferson's home Monticello and with a lake on the property, is a beautiful backdrop for the first sustainably-designed high school in Virginia.
