This landmark dairy barn was moved to make way for urban development and adapted for re-use as a performance theater. The architectural intent was to preserve the original wooden interior of the barn, a single room measuring 36 by 140 feet. Its roof trusses, built on-site in 1935, soar 38 feet overhead, allowing plenty of room for stage lighting and a staggered arrangement of stages and platforms. All of the new construction details and materials were designed to contrast with the existing structure to provide a clear distinction between the original and the new.
